Find every iPad model number in one place

Find the right iPad by model number
Not sure which iPad you have, need, or should buy? This page makes it easier to match every iPad model number to the device it belongs to, so you can quickly work out what you’re looking at.

Whether you’re buying second hand, selling your current device, checking compatibility, or comparing different generations, knowing the model number is one of the simplest ways to avoid guesswork. It helps you identify the exact iPad, understand where it sits in the range, and decide whether it is the right fit for your needs.

From budget-friendly everyday tablets to powerful models built for creative work, every iPad suits a different type of user. This guide is here to help you make sense of them.

Why model numbers matter
Two iPads can look almost identical but offer very different performance, features, and compatibility. The model number tells you exactly which version you’re dealing with, which matters when you’re checking value, accessories, software support, or trade-in potential.

If you’re shopping second hand, that can make all the difference. The right model number helps you buy with more confidence, avoid overpaying, and choose a device that will still feel right for the way you use it.
