iPad Battery – how do you know when it needs replacing ?
An iPad Battery typically lasts 2 years then it will start to degrade and perform poorly. But how quickly this happens depends on how often you use it and how much you charge it as typically that is what kills batteries. If your iPad’s battery health is significantly diminished (usually below 80%), you might experience issues like reduced battery life, sudden shutdowns, & decreased performance. In such cases, replacing the battery should restore your device’s functionality and extend its useful lifespan.
Warning signs a battery is failing:
Charges quicker than it used to :
Loses charge quicker than it used to
Seems to lose charge whilst not even using it
Switches off randomly at around 30% then if you plug it into a charge point it comes back on again at about 30%
Is stuck at 1% for hours.
The good news is that iPad batteries can be replaced, despite the fast they are sealed and look like you can’t get into them – with the use of some heat and special tools you can and then you can replace the battery and re-seal it. Giving the device an extended life after the repair. iPad batteries tend to last a minimum of 2 years and upto about 4 depending on use from what we’ve seen of our customers over the years. Tho it seems more common to be replacing them a little sooner than we used to. That maybe due to faster processors pushing them harder or the that chargers are faster ?

F.A.Q’s
How many years does an iPad battery last?
Commonly somewhere between 2 and 4 years. It’s difficult to be specific as it depends on how you use it, What applications you run and how you charge it. If you are a heavy user and therefore drain and re-charge it a lot then commonly as iPad batteries will start to show signs of degrading at 500 (times from empty to charged) then obviously the more you use it the quicker it will become poor.
Why won’t my iPad battery hold a charge?
As a battery gets old it loses some of it’s health. When you see battery health indicators in the Apple menu’s and it says 85% battery health – it means that only 85% of your battery is working. 15% having failed…so when your phone or iPad says it’s 100% charged, in this case it’s only 85% that’s 100% charged so actually you have less fully charged battery than when it was new.
