And when it’s 100% charged – onky actually 60% is charged to 100% meaning you have 40% less life than you used to.
Secondly as manufacturers push the limits of the Phone processor with new updates that makes older phone processors work harder to achieve the same results causing the battery to work harder ands often drain more quickly as it’s trying to do things a few years before it wasn’t designed to do.
And of course..
Planned obsolescence, Apple were fine a few years ago admitting their updates can cause battery problems and were fined for it in France after admitting it.
“These updates, released during 2017, included a dynamic power management device which, under certain conditions and especially when the batteries were old, could slow down the functioning of the iPhone 6, SE models. and 7.”
The investigation followed Apple’s admission in 2017 that it slows down some older iPhones with degraded batteries during times of peak power usage in order to prevent unexpected shutdowns.

Liquid damage is not covered under warranty (which I find really odd when you can seen they clearly state they can apparently be submerged for half an hour) but you may have rights under consumer law. iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR are resistant to accidental spills from common liquids, such as fizzy drinks, beer, coffee, tea and juice. In the event of a spill, rinse the affected area with tap water, then wipe off your iPhone and dry it.
To prevent liquid damage, avoid these (obv):
Swimming or bathing with your iPhone
Exposing your iPhone to pressurised water or high-velocity water, such as when showering, water skiing, wakeboarding, surfing, jet skiing and so on
Using your iPhone in a sauna or steam room
Intentionally submerging your iPhone in water
Operating your iPhone outside of the suggested temperature ranges or in extremely humid conditions
Dropping your iPhone or subjecting it to other impacts
Disassembling your iPhone, including removing screws
However according to their laboratory tests you are ok to suberge an iPhone 13 maximum depth of 6 metres up to 30 minutes, But I wouldn’t as clearly if you do it in a lab it’ll be ok but if you do it accidentally you won’t. ffs
Minimise exposing your iPhone to any liquids at all. It’s just better because they ARE NOT WATERPROOF whatever they claim in their laboratory tests. I know because we see lots of water damaged iPhones each week all of which were literally in water for half a second after it fell in the bath, or down the toilet.
What should i do if my iPhone gets wet?
Turn it off if you can. If you can’t don’t try and charge it. DO NOT TRY.
If a liquid other than water splashes on your iPhone, rinse the affected area with tap water.
Wipe off your iPhone with a soft cloth then
Make sure that your iPhone is dry before opening the SIM tray. To dry your iPhone, tap it gently against your hand with the Lightning connector facing down to remove excess liquid. Leave your iPhone in a dry area with some airflow. Putting it in an airing cupboard or near a radiator will help
If my iPhone gets wet, can I charge it? If your iPhone has been exposed to liquid, unplug all cables and do not charge your device until it’s completely dry. Using accessories or charging when wet may damage your iPhone. Ideally wait and see if it turns itself on without being plugged in by using the power button. For wireless charging, wipe off your iPhone with a soft, lint-free cloth – for example, a lens cloth. Make sure that your iPhone is dry before you place it on a compatible wireless charging mat. In my experience, whilst some phones do dry out and will work it, is unlikely to be long term. Ideally you need to find someone whose reviews, like ours, show proof of successful water damage recovery. It’s an art is recovering water damaged phone and can range from simple action like cleaning the board with pure alcohol in an oscillator to remove all the impurities from the water that are causing faulty connections and stopping the phone from working, to board lever repairs if water has already caused electrical faults killing certain components. The charge IC is a common one.
The upshot is, although they claim to be phones are’t waterproof. Anything with a hole for an earpiece, microphone, a sim slot with pokey hole in and speakers and isn’t made of one piece of material is leaky at best. Just avoid water with your phone.

Now it’s common in some circumstances that it can be your fault; too much pressure on the screen in your pocket can crack the back of the LCD, it happens. But you may know that you’ve been careful with it and it’s just gone weird on you.
Now you’ve paid good money for this repair, you thought long and hard about it and you contacted someone to do it, maybe you even took it to the high street shop near the market. Either way what happens now ? You paid £65 to have your iPhone 6 screen repaired and now it’s not working or you’ve had the screen replaced on an iPhone and the home button isn’t working after (see our article here
Did you ask for a warranty when you had it fixed, did you get a written receipt with a warranty, with contact information ?
We get a lot of calls from people telling us they’ve had a phone fixed somewhere and when they’ve gone back they’ve been told it’s their fault and they’ll have to pay again. There seems to be no warranty, no help, no nothing.
We fix phones each week where people are paying us to replace a screen that was only put on a few days before, phones that have parts missing and screws missing inside from poor workmanship, sometimes the screws themselves have come loose inside and lodged themselves somewhere that cause a press on the screen to fracture the LCD and render it useless. Camera cables that have not been pushed back into place causing the camera not to work, front camera/proximity cabling that isn’t even stuck down or correctly re-placed causing other components not to work.
Without being boring… what we are trying to say is make sure whoever repairs your phone gives you a receipt and a written warranty. Here at Mend My iPhone we give a 12 month warranty on all our parts and that includes our time and labour to put it right should a problem occur after fitting that is related to the quality of the part or a mistake on our part. We only work with UK suppliers that offer us a 12 month warranty so we know the parts are genuine great quality products.
We decided therefore to look at your rights as a customer so that you can deal with the issue of doing something about it yourself with the people who originally repaired your device and not having to pay us to put it right. We are happy to trust me, we like perfection, we like things repaired and we like happy, satisfied customers. We dislike poor workmanship, misleading people and trying to deceive customers. By all means call us, by all means ask us for advice and help but this should help you too. (it’s taken from http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/how-to-complain)
Know your rights
Everyone needs to know their basic statutory rights for shopping – in other words, the rights you have by law which a shop can’t change. The nitty-gritty of these laws depend on what you’re buying. For goods and digital content, it’s… And for services it’s that they should be carried out with…Reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time, at a reasonable price.
Decide what you want to happen
When complaining about a faulty screen repair, don’t get mad. You’re more likely to get results being cool, calm and rational than if you are ranting and raving. Throw a temper tantrum and the company may be perfectly happy to lose your custom to get rid of you which makes the fight tougher. Decide the answer to these three questions before you start:
Do you want to have the faulty screen re-repaired? If you could get the faulty screen repair fixed, the digital content replaced or have the service improved, would you be happy to accept that? If the answer’s yes, life’s easier.
Do you want a full refund? While you may want a full refund, you’re not always entitled to it if they can fix the problem. Having said that, sometimes it’s just easier for them to pay up to have the problem solved. As then to put the old part back on if necesaary but get a full refund,
Do you want compensation and, if so, what kind? Do you want money over and above just fixing or replacing a product for the time or distress you’ve been caused? While this can happen, it certainly complicates things so be reasonable and be sure you genuinely feel you’ve been unfairly put out.
Check the compensation timeline
When you act can determine what help you’re entitled to. Here’s what to bear in mind:
Are you returning the goods within 30 days?
This isn’t Phone Repair Law, it’s Under the Consumer Rights Act you now have the right to reject something faulty within 30 days of buying it – and in most cases get a full refund. (This is called your ‘short-term right to reject’.) If you act within this time, and you send the goods back if asked by the trader, you’re entitled to a full refund.
The refund needs to be paid without any delays and within 14 days at the most. After 30 days have elapsed though, you lose the right to reject the goods and you’ll have fewer rights.
What to expect:A full refund, unless you’ve altered something – for example, if you’ve taken up the hem of a dress or unlocked your phone handset to switch it to another network, you also won’t get this with a faulty screen repair as the old screen will have been disposed of.
Over six months, and it’s more important for you to prove the good or service was faulty when you bought it. Yet there’s another piece of legislation called the Limitation Act(it’s the Prescription and Limitation Act in Scotland) that can help you out. This says you have up to six years to complain after you bought a good (five years in Scotland). What to expect:Here, you have the same rights as above, ie, your choice of repair or replacement or a partial refund if this doesn’t work out. However, the partial refund can be reduced to take account of the use you’ve had of the item above and beyond six months, so you’ll get much less back if you’ve had something for five years rather than one year. There’s one exclusion to the ‘deduction for use’ rule and that’s for motor vehicles. If you’re returning a car, motorcycle or other vehicle the partial refund can include time prior to the six-month deadline. In both cases – before and after six months – you’re also entitled to ask for other remediesor damages. This generally means you should be put back into the same position you were in beforethings went wrong. As well as your partial refund this can include compensation for your time and other expenses incurred.
Use a guarantee or warranty
If there are problems with a seller and you’ve a manufacturer’s guarantee, these are in addition to your statutory rights and you can use the guarantee as well asyour legal rights. Your contract is with the retailer or service provider, not the product manufacturer, so it is its responsibility to sort it out, providing that the product is breaking your statutory rights. So don’t let the retailer fob you off, for example, by saying you must use the guarantee first to send a duff DVD player back to the manufacturer. Guarantees offer a repair or replacement within a fixed time, e.g. 12 months (like our warranty) Warranties are different. They’re additional contracts you usually pay for when you buy something. Most warranties are a waste of cash, as they’re over-expensive and under-claimed.

I’d like to say it’s possible, but the online companies advertising it are operating a clever deception. I want to warn you in this article of the methods they are using and why you should avoid these websites; and a specific company.
The background :
I have a number of Clean (not lost, not stolen and iCloud locked devices) and decided to see if I could have them unlocked. I chose to use one of the highest ranking Google searched sites with a professional looking website, I researched them first and found they had pretty much a 50/50 split of good and bad reviews on TrustPilot. I’ve also discovered since they have a number of other websites with poor reviews here and here and here that are all linked. And one link in particular is very very clever and I’ve worked out how it fools you. I’ll tell you more about that later.
There are a number of website’s operating, in my opinion fraudulently, and I want to raise awareness of it by hoping this article will be used as a massive red flag and ideally re-shared and used to warn of very dubious practices being used to dupe people into parting with money, in this case £35.99 a time, with no intention of carrying out the service. Effectively stealing from you. They are
I’m sure there are others but I can’t be bothered to dig any deeper.
This is all conjecture but I believe it to be true as I operate in Phone repair business and don’t like companies in my industry that don’t look after their customers and it’s rife. Sadly.
First of all i read their terms and conditions and made sure that before I started the iPad satisfied the requirements so it didn’t get rejected. I use a company called https://techsinghs.co.uk who i’ve been working with for 8 years or so. They do my unlocks and are a big player in the unlocking world. I trust them and have recommended them to a lot of my colleagues. I did a Lost and Found Check and a Blacklist check to be certain. Here are the results. It has FIND MY IPHONE on which means it’s iCould locked What i wanted removing). It shows also that the iCloud is CLEAN and it’s not blacklisted.
I then processed my unlock at www.appleiphoneunlock.uk and waited my three days for it to be processed. As I had suspected it came back rejected.
I also got an email stating the following :
What I wasn’t expecting, and this is where it gets way more suspicious, is that in their rejection email they gave me a link to a website to prove that their claim was true. They said other websites were available but obviously led me to this one. One they own and operate
I followed the link to http://cleancheck.me and whoa ! apparently my device is REPORTED AS LOST OR STOLEN.
that’s according to them. So I did a check on a number of other FREE iCloud status websites. Ones they didn’t recommend to me.
Here are the results of theirs
All came back clean. I also went back to my own trusted source and did another check. It came back clean. What i imagine is happening is www.cleancheck.me
is operated by the same company and they are manipulating the database by putting the rejected numbers into their database and deliberately leading you to believe it’s true. It’s not.
I have emailed them to tell them I am reporting their practices to both Trading Standards and Action Fraud as I am utterly convinced they are conning people. I gave them the opportunity to refund me and they have at the time of writing refused.
Stay clear of iCloud unlocking services, as a business I set up to help people, especially innocent people who have forgotten their iCloud or for some legitimate reason have a device that Apple themselves will commonly not help with i have been trying to find my own solution to this for about 8 years. But it seems all i find is companies like this using people’s desperation to solve a problem and taking them for a ride.
AVOID THEM ! DO NOT USE !
If you have any experience of these companies and want to comment or have anything added to this blog post please email me at info@mendmyiphone.co.uk.
If you happen to run this company and want to put your side of the story you can contact me at the same address. i’d be happy to take this post down if you can prove that anything I’m saying isn’t true. You also know I am actually a customer of your’s from the info in this post, so you can’t debunk me – I have a receipt for my purchase.
The iPhone 7 and the 7 Plus has a common issue in which your phone will have the speaker grayed out when you’re making outgoing calls. Other symptomps of this issue is that your microphone doesn’t work, trying to record a video will result in no sound in the video. This is usually caused by
the iPhone 7 dropping, there isn’t necessarily a need for a physical damage on the phone, the fact that it dropped will cause this problem to occur.
Reason
The iPhone 7 speaker grayed out is usually caused by a chip on the iPhone 7 logic board, this chip is called the Audio IC Chip. There is a slight chance that it may be a software issue (which will require you to factory reset your phone simply to just “test” and see if it is), but based on our experience, this is definitely a hardware issue on your logic board. When your phone constantly drops and or gets hot this audio ic chip becomes loose and therefore causes your microphone not to work and your speaker getting grayed out when you make calls. This audio IC chip is soldered on the logic board (a logicboard is the same as a motherboard, it’s what controls everything on the phone.). So if your speaker butt
on is not working on your iPhone this is the reason. And this is the solution…
How to Permanently Fix
In order to get the iPhone 7 that’s speaker is grayed out, you need to take the whole phone apart to get to the logic board and then use special micro-soldering tools to get the Audio IC Chip taken out and placed back properly. Special and advanced tools are required to do this repair, these tools include a microscope, heat gun, and everything needed to desolder and resolder the audio ic chip. Only micro-soldering techs with logic board repair experience
are capable of getting this repaired successfully, if you put too much heat on the logic board or mistakenly move other components around as you’re soldering then you could easily damage the iPhone 7. We strongly urge you to look for a local repair shop near you and make sure they do micro soldering as we do not recommend anyone to attempt this repair without prior experience.
We can carry out his repair for you, but obviously if you aren’t local to us and don’t want to do a mail in repair you need to find a reputable repair shop with good reviews and ask them to check for an Audio IC repair.
You may also ask why is my iphone speaker crackling ? Cracking in the earpiece often happens as the audio IC is failing and a lot of customers have said this was a symptom before it suddenly stopped working and seems to be the warning sign.
If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker then try reading this article here

We get a lot of people asking us for the cost of a screen repair for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus phones and the latest S10 and S20’s. Replacement screens that are genuine Samsung Service Packs are very expensive, and this has to be reflected in the price we charge. Along with all the other repair technicians we partner with, most customers tell us it’d be cheaper to buy a second hand phone or upgrade their contract.
On hearing this, many people understandably point out that it’s only the glass that’s damaged- not the screen itself- and want to know whether we can replace that alone. Unfortunately, the bad news is that we can’t. We’ve written this article to explain why.
Why Replacement Screens Are Expensive…
Simply because Samsung screen repair costs are based on the high cost of Samsung genuine parts
Samsung mobile phone screens are notoriously expensive, and often the cost of a replacement is nearly as much as a second-hand phone. The reason for this is that the manufacturing cost is high; most Samsung screens use AMOLED (active matrix organic LED) technology and are made by Samsung themselves. Manufacturers of compatible third-party displays (mainly based in China) have not yet succeeded in making their own equivalent and these screens as cheap as they may be are cheap for a reason – they are poor copies and dont work as well .
And what you get with a Samsung Service Centre pack is a genuine part with a new frame and in a lot of cases a brand new battery, so the lifespan of your phone is significantly better. Literally you are getting a new phone other than your motherboard and the vibration motor in a number of cases.
Options for Replacement Screens
In general, there are three options for replacement of Samsung screens:
While “copy” screens for older Samsung phones (like the S4 and S5) are available from China, they aren’t very reliable and use LCD technology instead of AMOLED. Official screens are available via Service Packs that are sold by Samsung to distributors, but stock of these is usually limited, especially for newer models.
Official Samsung screens are also available via recycling, having been taken from handsets and refurbished in factories in China. Due to supply and demand, the resale value of a broken Samsung display is very high, which in turn bumps up the price of recycled displays. The official Samsung Service Pack is the best quality product, and this is what we tend to use where possible. (Unfortunately, this option is only available for the newer phone models.) These are brand-new Super AMOLED displays produced by Samsung and used in their service centres. Usually, these will come with a new frame and all the correct adhesives required to give the repair a factory finish and, as you would expect, this product commands the highest price. Some other stores may use refurbished Samsung displays, and these usually come without the correct adhesive and frame. This means you need to transfer the old frame from the broken display- if not done correctly, this can cause issues at a later date. For example, the display can lift from the frame causing it to break, or if the old frame isn’t cleaned correctly, it can result in a pink line appearing on the display. (If you returned to the store with the pink line they would refuse a warranty claim on the basis that you broke it).
The other issue with refurb displays is that there’s can be a massive quality difference depending on who refurbished it. Some screens may have imperfections or dust trapped inside, but more importantly, the glass might not be the same quality as Samsung use typically it will be thinner and break more easily. Screen replacements for the S6 Edge, S7 Edge, S8 and S8+ are expensive. This is because the official screens cost a lot to buy new, and even variable-quality refurbs can be expensive due to supply and demand. A lot of owners ask us if we can do a glass-only repair cheaper. Unfortunately, we can’t. There are people that do it, but expect a 5-10 day turnaround time.
Why Can’t I Get a Glass-Only Repair?
It often doesn’t help that many people know you can buy a Samsung S7 Edge glass replacement kit on eBay for around £20… but what they don’t know is there’s a very nasty catch. All you get id a sheet of glass, some pointless tools and some Loca glue, they don’t tell you that you also need about £3500 worth of technical refurb equipment to strip the old glass. Replacing glass in general requires a lot of skill. Replacing the glass on a curved screen like the S7 Edge’s is near-impossible, even for an experienced technician-,without breaking the lcd itself.
update : there are some reputable refurbishing companies now doing glass only repairs for a lot, but not all of the Samsung range . You can have it done as long as your LCD isn’t bleeding and all the areas of the screen have working touch . All you need to do is google mobile phone screen refurbishing and find someone with with good reviews .
If you choose us ?
If you choose us we only use Samsung Service Centre parts, we know they work, we buy direct from an authorised retailer and give a 12 month fault warranty, Copy screens do not work as well. We do use refurbished screens where we can that are genuine to keep some prices down but not all displays refurb well so not all are available. We don’t carry them in stock as there are so many models on the market and often in different colours so we need payment upfront as it’s a special order and we need your commitment for the repair. If you don’t show up it costs us money to send it back. Some models we’ve only repaired once in the last year as possibly only 1 in 10 customers accept the cost. I think a lot of people think we are trying to rip them off but that’s not our style. We use genie parted and as we’ve explained they are expensive to buy.
